CUSTOM STEERING WHEEL

Here's a couple of shots of the wheel I bought from DogDishDeluxe on the HAMB.
The center cap is just me messing around, setting embedded shift knobs in the recessed horn cap. Gives you an idea of how I could build a cool custom wheel, though. Next step is filling the numerous cracks on the wheel. And lots of sanding. More on that later.

CUSTOM WHEEL AND HORN BUTTON

Picked up a pair of custom steering wheels from fellow HAMBer. One will be used on my roadster, while the other will be run on my T. When I mentioned to him that I own a custom shift knob biz, he instantly hit on how cool it would be to make a custom center cap for the wheel to match the car's custom custom knob. I broke out both of the wheels today and snapped some shots featuring a series of our hotrodshiftknob custom embedment shift knobs dropped into the recessed horn cap. Kudos to my fellow HAMBer for suggesting this. I'll be sending him a link to this blog.

A COOL-ASS STEERING WHEEL

Just picked up a custom steering wheel for my T. The basis of the wheel is an early sixties Belair wheel. Dog Dish Deluxe on the HAMB is a welder by trade and makes these wheels on the side. I'll either make a custom center piece for it or look for a way to integrate a Buick logo since I'll be running a 425 Nailhead in it. This sucker will be painted either body color or a complimentary color to the exterior paint color.

FOUND NICE GUIDE HEADLIGHT BUCKETS AND LENSES

Picked up a pair of 682-J Guide headlights from a Denver Craigs List ad. They're the real deal and in super condition. A couple of very small dings but no rust whatsoever and the lamps are in nice shape, even thought they're 6-volt. The cloth-wired wires and the attachment hardware are in great condition too. One less pair of parts needed for the Tall T.

CONCEPT UPDATE

We've been in a holding pattern socking away more build budget before Phase Two begins. As I prepare to purchase a new drop axle front end, thereby completing Phase One, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the overall concept.

The T will be named "Lily", after Lily Munster. The paint will be a dark Eggplant, shiny or suede:

The Interior will use a brocade for a somewhat gothic vibe.

I'd like to use a pistachio color to keep the interior from getting too dark. Perhaps the interior paint could pick up that color (dash, header panel, garnish moldings, etc.) and all upholstery materials (vinyl, leather, brocade, gauges, steering wheel etc.) could stay in the dark eggplant shade. 

I've messing with the idea of color-matching the gauges and steering wheel to the eggplant 

and picking up the pistachio as an accent color.

The rear wheels will be Cragar SS rims like below with whitewall cheater slicks.

Front would be chrome reverse wheels. I'd like to use the pistachio color as an accent color on firewall,engine block, and pin striping. The below engine color is too blue, but you get the idea.

My nailhead engine will have either multiple carbs or a single four barrel with

 a drag boat style scoop like the one pictured above and finned valve covers like the ones pictured below. I'm strongly considering the pistachio green for the engine block's color. 

I've got a pair of zoomie headers that I will likely wrap in header tape. 

The grill shell will be a chopped 32 shell.

I'll probably want to figure out something kinda different for the grill itself.

One last shot of my Mercury Charlie Custom Zee frame before it gets separated from the engine and tranny and hoisted into the rafters until after the Lone Star Round-Up. And a shot of Charlie because I'm a sucker for a bigass hat.

A PAIR OF PLATES

Went to the Tri-State Swap Meet this weekend and look what I found. The exact year plates I'll be 

needing for my car T. The one up top has been restored, while its matching its evil twin is in unrestored condition. One less part to have to track down once it's running.
