RUBBED OUT FLATZ. WHO KNEW?

As cash reserves build back up, it's time to go back to conceptual exercise of planning. I know the exterior color will be a dark, dark eggplant color. I'm strongly leaning towards a suede. I tripped upon a very interesting idea for the paint texture from a fellow HAMB member. "El Bombero" painted his car in Hot Rod Flatz and had second thoughts once he's done so. So rubbed out the clear and the effect looked like an old paint job in really nice shape. Not a patina per say, just a slightly duller look. Very interesting idea. I'd like to thank fellow HAMBer Jeffrey James for reposting this idea on the HAMB thread I started.

LUCKY 7 FRONT END

Just got a recommendation from fellow HAMB member RAGTOP. He scored a a complete chrome front end from Lucky Seven for $2600. The part # is: L7 1045C from a Canadian outfit called Lost Time Choppers in St. Thomas, Ontario. Losttimechoppers.com is their website and here's a pic of the set-up:

COMPLETION OF PHASE ONE -- JUST ONE BIG TICKET ITEM AWAY

The only thing standing between me and having a full roller is a front end. Although I planned to use the roadster's old front end, it won't work with Charlie's Zee frame. So a complete front end is my next big ticket item. I'll probably go with an unpolished unit for now. Once I've got it, I'll have a genuine roller on my hands.

THE MASTER BUILDER

Here's a shot of my frame parked next to one of Charlie's other creations, Nadine, which has been featured in Rodder's Journal, among many other major publications. Some men build architectural masterpieces. Charlie builds vehicular ones. I'm thrilled to have Charlie lending his considerable talents to my T.

FRAME PROGRESS

Here's the Nailhead being lowered into place.

Engine mounts roughed in. We will finesse them later.

Rear end, ladder bars, Nailhead and Turbo 400 are all in place.

Note the Zee Frame's gussets for added strength.

The rear end is a 9" from John's Industries with 3.50 gears, and 10" X 2.25"drums.
A little piece of Charlie's old T, the purple driveshaft yoke is a now a part of mine.

SWEET T INSPIRATION

A labor of love, Dan Stoner (owner) and Tim Conder (fabricator) have been in cahoots on this car for a long time.
One of its most unique features is the fact that its vertically sectioned to accentuate the tallness.
I can't wait to see it running.

The car that started it it all for me. Mercury Charlie's tall T with Von Franco flames. 

Beyond its many radical mods, I love one of its more subtle ones. Not the height of the header panel at the top of the windshield. It has been shaved to provide even more visability. Looks sweet, too.
